ScienceQuest

San Francisco, California

Palace Hotel
March
13 - 14, 2009

WorldStrides hosted 55 teachers from the San Francisco area on March 13-14, 2009.  The ScienceQuest weekend started Friday evening with dinner and a Monte Carlo themed evening of entertainment.  Teachers were able to try their hand at different casino games and enjoy networking with peers from their area.  Guests stayed in deluxe accommodations at the Palace Hotel, compliments of WorldStrides.

Saturday morning, teachers were treated to a full breakfast at the hotel.  Following breakfast, Fred O’Connor, Executive Vice President of WorldStrides, introduced teachers to the educational travel opportunities available when partnering with WorldStrides.  Guests were then able to meet teachers who currently travel with WorldStrides and hear about their students’ life-changing experiences.  In order to demonstrate the hands-on nature of WorldStrides’ programs, a scientist from Costa Rica’s Tirimbina Rainforest Center presented on bats and the many habitats found in Costa Rica.  Later, the director of Nature’s Academy spoke about the coastal ecology of Florida with a focus on adaptation.  ScienceQuest concluded with excitement as teachers won prizes from a raffle drawing!
