WorldStrides wants your trip to be the best it can be. Many groups have found that fundraising helps bring students and the community together on a financial and social level. Below are a few benefits of fundraising and ideas about how to get started.
- Helps raise a portion of the trip
cost.
- Gives students a sense of ownership in making the program a reality.
- Creates camaraderie among students, chaperones, and the community.
- Professional fundraisers recommend setting a specific objective
ahead of time so that everyone is working toward a goal. You can
work toward a group goal or encourage students to set their own
individual goals. Parents might also be involved in this decision.
It is easier to set goals in terms of a percentage of the cost of
the trip: 25%, 50%, or 100%.
- There are two approaches to fundraising based on the amount of
time you are able to commit: working with an outside company or
doing it on your own. If your time commitment is limited, you may
prefer pre-packaged fundraising options. However, you may find that
a group of teachers and parents have the time and desire to coordinate
the fundraising on their own.
