WorldStrides is pleased to announce a number of scholarships and grants that will help you fund your travel program. Please read the information below to learn more about several of the funding options that are currently available for individual students or school groups.
Helping Hands, a fund sponsored by WorldStrides employees, awards program scholarships to deserving students who may otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in WorldStrides educational programs. Applicants must be nominated by their Program Leaders to be considered. Helping Hands nominations are accepted each fall;

UPDATED 1/8/2010: WorldStrides believes that every child, regardless of background, should have access to the wonder of educational travel. To support this vision, $1 million in FLAG Scholarship funding is available for families with an annual adjusted gross income (AGI) up to $85,000. Through a partnership with the Future Leaders of American Government (FLAG) Foundation, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, we will offer these scholarships for students participating on WorldStrides programs in the 2010-2011 academic year. Funds are also still available for spring and summer 2010 travelers!
FLAG Scholarships are available in amounts up to $400. The FLAG Scholarship application process is completely confidential and simple enough to complete in minutes. The Student Youth Travel Association (SYTA) also offers need and merit-based scholarships for student travel. Visit www.sytayouthfoundation.org for more information on how to apply.
The Gift of Education is an easy fundraising strategy in which students send letters requesting small donations to friends, family members, and local organizations to help fund their educational program. Students can find customizable letter templates here.
The Society of American Travel Writers, a non-profit organization that promotes responsible journalism and encourages conservation and preservation of travel resources around the world, is offering a scholarship to encourage teenagers to share their travel experience in words and images.
Students aged 13-18 who are attending grades 8-12 as of May 15, 2010, may submit an essay describing what they have learned in their travels. The travel experience described in the essay must have occurred within the last three years, and the deadline for applications in August 1, 2010. The Verizon Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Verizon Communications. The Verizon Foundation's goal is to invest in results and fuel positive social change in a number of issues, including education. Organizations can learn more and/or submit an electronic grant proposal on the Verizon Foundation's website at foundation.verizon.com.

Apperson Education Products' Apperson Gives Back program allows teachers to submit special school or classroom needs for the chance to win a $500, $750, or $1,500 grant each month.
