Science Florida

Habitat H20
Florida is a unique educational ground for wildlife biology, ecology, restoration ecology, and ecosystem management. On a WorldStrides program in Florida, your child experiences science outside of the classroom like he or she never has before. Habitat: H2O brings students to the most educational and exciting destinations Florida’s Gulf Coast has to offer.

Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park: Students will see many of Florida’s endemic species, including alligators, river otters, and manatees, as they hike along nature trails throughout the park.

Crystal River: Students will snorkel with the manatees and learn about the history and conservation of these endangered animals in Crystal River.

Rainbow River: As they snorkel in fresh water, students will see diverse wildlife as well as prehistoric sharks teeth which are being released as the underground limestone caverns erode.

Lido Beach: This beautiful Gulf Coast beach is an excellent location for swimming and water testing.

Egmont Key: Students explore an island's ecosystem while snorkeling and netting.

Mote Marine Lab: Scientists at this world-leading shark research center share groundbreaking discoveries and research as students explore this working laboratory and even touch a shark’s sandpaper-like skin.

Myakka State Park: When students visit this park they have the chance to explore the most diverse natural area in the state of Florida – this site includes wetlands, prairies, hammocks and pinelands and provides opportunities for viewing alligators, anhinga, wading birds, bald eagles, and more.
